Arrest Made After Rocket Attack on Kramatorsk

After the rocket attack on a restaurant in the Ukrainian city of Kramatorsk, a suspected coordinator of the attack has been arrested. With the discovery of another body in the rubble, the official death toll has risen to twelve.

Another Fatality Recovered, Rescue Operations Concluded

Following the Russian attack on a restaurant in eastern Ukraine’s Kramatorsk, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky, a suspected mastermind of the attack has been apprehended. He is accused of coordinating the attack.

“Today, the Ukrainian intelligence service, along with special police units, arrested the person who coordinated the act of terrorism,” Zelensky said in his evening video address. He also expressed his condolences to the families of all the victims.

In Kramatorsk, in the Donetsk region, a pizzeria was hit in a missile attack on Tuesday. According to the latest reports, another body has been recovered from the debris of the destroyed restaurant. This brings the official death toll to twelve, with more than 60 people injured. Among the deceased are three children, including two 14-year-old twins.

The recovery operations have now concluded, confirmed the authorities. They also released a video showing the rescue efforts, as well as drone footage depicting the extent of the destruction. In addition to the restaurant, apartments, shops, cars, a post office, and several other buildings were damaged.

Russia Denies Responsibility for the Attack

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov immediately denied Russia’s responsibility for the rocket attack. When asked about the attack, he stated that Russia only targets military objectives in Ukraine, not civilian ones. “Attacks are only carried out on objects that are in some way connected to military infrastructure,” he emphasized.

President Zelensky strongly condemned the attack: “Such terrorism repeatedly proves to us and the whole world that Russia deserves only one thing for its deeds: defeat and a tribunal.”
