Connecticut State Representative Robin Comey Issues Apology for DUI Arrest

by Nono

State Representative Robin Comey of Branford has issued an apology following her arrest on March 16 for driving under the influence of alcohol following a rollover crash on Capitol Avenue in Hartford. Comey initially confirmed the reports of her arrest on the same day it occurred, but only recently issued a formal apology and statement ahead of her treatment. House Democrats were quick to confirm that Comey was indeed involved in the crash and had been taken into police custody on Thursday evening. While the department has yet to issue formal charges, police sources claim that she was charged with driving under the influence.
The rollover crash reportedly occurred between Lawrence St. and Babcock St., and was situated just over two blocks from the Legislative Office Building and the State Capitol Complex. It appears as though the vehicle hit at least one parked car before coming to a stop on its roof.
On March 18, Comey issued an apology and statement to address her constituents, colleagues in the Connecticut General Assembly, her family, and her friends for her DUI arrest. In her statement, she stated that she will start treatment to better understand the disease that is addiction and the help she needs. While she has yet to reveal what her treatment plan will consist of, she is grateful to everyone for providing her the necessary time and support she needs to address her addiction.
