In the first round of voting on Tuesday, Jordan did not receive the required number of votes in the parliamentary chamber. The Republicans have a narrow majority in the House of Representatives. The party currently holds 221 seats in the parliamentary chamber, while President Joe Biden’s Democrats have 212 seats. Jordan, therefore, cannot afford many defectors. He cannot expect support from the Democrats.
