Russia Suspends Notifications Required Under “New Start Treaty” on Nuclear Weapons

The Kremlin has recently announced the suspension of all notifications that are required under the “New Start Treaty”. This treaty, which was signed in 2010, involves negotiations between Russia and the United States to reduce their nuclear weapon arsenals. The treaty requires both countries to exchange data about their respective arsenals, and sets a limit of 1,550 deployed strategic nuclear warheads and 800 deployed and non-deployed missile launchers and bombers for each country.
