The Finnish Prime Minister does not mince words. Sanna Marin said on Friday, December 2, that Europe was “not strong enough” to stand up to Moscow alone. On a visit to Australia, the leader of the candidate country for NATO membership stressed that Russia’s invasion and occupation of Ukraine had revealed Europe’s weaknesses and strategic errors. “We would be in trouble without the United States,” she pointed out to the Lowy Institute, a Sydney-based think tank.

Between 10,000 and 13,000 Ukrainian soldiers killed since the start of the war. “We have official estimates from the general staff (…) They range from 10,000 (…) to 13,000 dead,” said Mykhailo Podolyak, one of Ukrainian President Volodymyr’s advisers. Zelensky, on Ukrainian Channel 24, Thursday. According to him, the Head of State will make the official data public “when the time is right”.

Ukraine will limit the activities of religious organizations affiliated with Moscow. The country will also question the status of the Orthodox Church dependent on the Moscow Patriarchate, Volodymyr Zelensky announced Thursday. These measures follow searches carried out in November by the Ukrainian security services in the main monastery of kyiv and several other places of worship.

The war in Ukraine at the heart of discussions between France and the United States. Emmanuel Macron arrived in Washington on Tuesday evening for a three-day state visit. He was welcomed by US President Joe Biden. The two heads of state want to display a message of unity on Ukraine by promising to continue to support kyiv as much as necessary, while explaining that negotiations with Moscow can only take place when Volodymyr Zelensky deems it appropriate.
