Dead and Injured in Heavy Attacks

Following intense attacks on Ukraine, authorities in several cities across the country report numerous dead and injured. The most affected is Dnipro, but there are also casualties in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Odessa, and Lviv.

According to Ukrainian authorities, at least 31 people have been killed nationwide in a new massive wave of Russian attacks on Ukrainian cities. More than 150 people have been injured, as reported by Ukrainian authorities. The casualties occurred in Dnipro, Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia, Odessa, and the capital, Kyiv. Additionally, power outages occurred in many cities, affecting the northern and southern regions of the country, according to the Ministry of Energy.

Most Severe Attack in a Long Time

In the morning, Russia reportedly fired more than 150 rockets and drones at targets in Ukraine, according to Ukrainian sources. Ukrainian air defense managed to intercept over 70 percent of them.

Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ihnat stated on television that they hadn’t seen so many “red hostile targets” on their monitors for a long time. They used “S-300” missiles, various cruise missiles, and long-range drones of Iranian design. About 18 strategic bombers were in the air, serving as launch platforms.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, on X, formerly Twitter, mentioned approximately 110 rockets, with the majority being intercepted by Ukraine. Zelensky emphasized that it was one of the heaviest attacks on Ukraine to date.

Apparently Russian Rocket in Polish Airspace

According to the Polish Army, a Russian rocket briefly entered the airspace of NATO member Poland. “Everything indicates that a Russian rocket entered Polish airspace. We tracked it on radar, and it left the airspace again,” said Chief of the General Staff Wieslaw Kukula. The rocket was reportedly in Polish airspace for about three minutes, covering a distance of 40 kilometers.

Dead and Injured in Kyiv

At least nine people were killed in the capital alone. Many people sought refuge from the attacks in metro stations. According to the city administration, a residential building caught fire due to falling debris. A storage facility was also on fire.

Multiple-Wave Attack on Kharkiv

Oleh Synegubov, the governor of the Kharkiv region, stated that there was one fatality during attacks on Kharkiv in the northeast of the country, with several people injured.

Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terechow described a “massive attack” in three waves. He mentioned 22 counted attacks, hitting a hospital, several residential buildings, and industrial facilities. The Kharkiv region police stated that the city was attacked in the morning with “S-300” missiles.

Dead in Lviv and Odessa

In the western Ukrainian city of Lviv, authorities reported that a residential building was hit by a rocket. One person died, and eight were injured, according to the region’s governor, Maksym Kosyzkyj, on the messaging platform Telegram. Lviv is located in the west of Ukraine, about 70 kilometers from the border with Poland, and is relatively rarely a target of attacks.

According to official reports, rockets also struck Odessa. Authorities in the port city reported two dead and at least 15 injured. Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov stated that a high-rise building caught fire during “another hostile attack” and was hit by debris from a downed drone.

Multiple Deaths in Dnipro

In the eastern major city of Dnipro, five people were killed, and more than 20 others were injured, according to local authorities. According to the region’s governor, a maternity clinic and a shopping center were hit. The Ministry of Health stated that an unspecified medical facility in the city was significantly damaged. However, all patients and staff were able to evacuate to safety. “Economist” correspondent Carroll posted a video on X showing the bombardment in the morning.

Destruction in Sumy and Konotop

Nationwide air raid sirens were activated. Nocturnal attacks were also reported from the cities of Sumy and Konotop. The Southern Command of the Ukrainian Armed Forces stated that 14 attack drones were destroyed, with no reports of casualties. Russia has not yet made any statements on this matter. However, Russia claimed to have thwarted an “attempted” Ukrainian drone attack targeting the Kursk region in western Russia.
