The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD)

This fresh disturbance is the latest in a series of weather events that have been affecting Odisha over the past few months. The state has been grappling with extreme weather conditions, including severe cyclones and flooding, which have caused significant damage to property and infrastructure.
The IMD has cautioned residents of Odisha to be prepared for the upcoming weather disturbance and ensure that they take necessary precautions to minimize any potential damage. The department has also advised people to stay tuned to weather updates and warnings issued by the authorities.
Speaking about the expected weather conditions, IMD Director General Mrutyunjay Mohapatra said, “A cyclonic circulation has formed over the Bay of Bengal and is likely to move towards Odisha in the next few days. Under its influence, several parts of the state are expected to experience light to moderate rainfall.”
Mohapatra also stated that the predicted weather event is not expected to be as severe as the previous cyclonic disturbance that hit the state in October last year. However, he added that the IMD is monitoring the situation closely and will provide updates as required.
